Streetworks
It is essential that any person who is installing, maintaining, inspecting or renewing apparatus on or beneath any road or street is competent and fully qualified to control any work undertaken. This is stated by the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991, and it is important for both safety and quality that it is strictly adhered to.
As a result, it is vital that any work undertaken is carried out by a trained operative with the relevant operative qualification. As well as this, a qualified supervisor should be present when any work is in progress.
If your job involves you working on or supervising any work on the highway or street, it is likely that it will be necessary for you to carry a Street Works card detailing your qualifications in the area. Which card you carry is dependent on your job role and how many units you pass. Operatives must pass 9 units and supervisors must pass 8 units.
Here at Safety Problem Solutions, we are an approved assessment centre for the Street Works Scheme (NRSWA), and will be happy to carry out your assessment and present you with your City and Guild certificate for each unit you pass. We will also provide you with your Street Works card to prove that you are fully qualified and competent at work.
