Potential and existing operators who have received no formal instruction
Course Contents
- Identification marks, test certification and through examination documentation
- Identifying load weights and centres of gravity
- Characteristics of lifting accessories, including effects of angle and attaching methods
- Selection of lifting accessories including uniform load method
- Following method statements and other instructions including preparation of work area
- How to sling various loads including balanced, unbalanced and loose
- How to deliver signals of the appliance operator, using different forms of communication
- How to lift and accurately place various loads including test lifts, to and from confined and blind areas
- How to keep within safe working parameters
Course Outcomes
On completion of the course your candidate will be able to:
- Know the duties and responsibility, as required by statute, of a slinger/signaller
- Know the effects of load movement on the stability of a crane
- Know potential hazards associated with crane operation and how to overcome them
- Know the effects of varying the angles of multi-leg slings and how to calculate their safe working loads
Your candidate will be awarded a:
- CPCS Red Operators Card – ( subject to successfully passing the Health & Safety Touch Screen Test)
